Camper Rig

The story of the "rig".

It all starts with the truck.  Originally, I thought I would use my Toyota Tacoma as the horse for this adventure, but along came a good deal on a bigger ride and I snatched it up.

Goodbye Toyota
I bought this truck on Cinco De Mayo of 2012.  It was a great truck and I enjoyed the 4 years and 50 odd thousand miles, but the short bed (5 ft) really limited the options for outfitting a camper on it.  For the style of camper I wanted I was limited to a Four Wheel Camper Swift or Fleet model.  Also the truck would need suspension mods (air bags) to compensate for the weight.

This started me thinking I need to get a full sized truck with a 6.5 ft bed which would open up the options for buying a new or used camper.  So I used the car search websites and started looking at what kind of deal I could find.  I had a few checklist items that the new ride must have like: 4x4 drive train, off road capability, enough payload for pretty much stock suspension, and enough room for Ria the black lab.  In March of 2016, I noticed some new 2015 Ford F150's available in the north Texas area that were mark down to sell.

So out with the white truck and in with the black one.

Hello 2015 F150 with off road package, tow package, 4x4, and extended cab.

So I proceeded to make a few initial modifications:
line-x bed liner
Torxlift Stableloads - pretty cool product.

Ready to roll - hmmm which direction to head first?
